Your profile

Ensure you are signed in to the E&T Cyber Security Hub

Click on the avatar icon at the top right of the page to reveal a drop-down menu and then click “Edit Profile”

There are a number of required fields, as denoted by the red asterisks (*). There are also a number of optional fields, such as contact details and social media accounts. We strongly encourage you to add as much information as possible. Remember, profiles with photos and complete biographies get more views!

The “Content” dropdown menu allows you to choose a post that you have already published on the Community to be highlighted on your profile page

When adding your social media accounts to your profile, ensure you use the full URLs, not just your user name or handle

Click the green “Save” button at the bottom of the page

To add a profile photo, or avatar, follow the steps below:

Click on the avatar icon at the top right of the page and then click “Edit Profile”

At the top of the page you will find your profile picture, click ‘Change’ to browse and upload a photo, this should be larger than 400 x 400 pixels, once uploaded click the purple “Save changes” button

Managing the account settings for your profile is also very easy. Zapnito has produced a fantastic video resource here which outlines all the different settings you can adjust.

Create and publish posts

All members and experts in the E&T Cyber Security Hub can create new content and comment on and upvote existing content.

Those members with Expert status can additionally choose a specific Channel (Breach Detection and Prevention, Soft Measures etc) where their article will appear, as well as continuing to publish content that appears on their profile.

To create a post, follow the steps below:

Ensure you are signed in to the E&T Cyber Security Hub

If you have the relevant permissions that allow you to create posts, you will see a notepad icon at the top right of the page; click it

The “Create New” pop-up will appear, as shown in the image below. To create your post, click the “Post” icon

You will be taken to a “New Post” page

The fields “Post Title” and “Post Introduction” are required for every post

Should you want your post to appear somewhere besides your profile page, select the appropriate Channel from the drop-down menu – this option will only be available if you have Expert status

At this point in time we are not using the Room functionality in this Community, therefore it is fine to leave it as the default “No Room”

The “Poster Image” drop-down menu provides you with the option of adding an image that will sit behind the title of your post

In the “Content ...” box, write or paste your text, using the tool bar editor at the top of the page to format your text

To add hyperlinks, highlight the text you want to act as the link, click the link icon on the tool bar editor, and click the ‘Link’ icon. Check the box labelled “Open in new tab” to ensure the reader is not taken away from your post if they click on the link. Click the blue “Insert” button

Once you are happy with how your post looks, click the green ‘Publish’ button

You will be taken directly to your published post. Anyone that follows you will receive an email notification that you have created a new post

If you want to edit a published post, click on your avatar at the top right and click “My Posts”. You’ll be shown a complete list of all your draft and published posts. Click on the “Edit Post” icon to the right of the page to make any changes

Add images to your posts

To insert an image within the main content of your post, click the “Insert Image” on the tool bar editor to browse for images. A ‘Poster Image’ can sit behind the title of your post. Images should be at least 1280 by 960 pixels in size and in Jpeg format.

How to use the ‘My Analytics’ tool

The My Analytics tool available to all users gives you a quick and easy way to see which of your posts are attracting the most attention and how many people have looked at your profile.

To access this tool, click the drop-down menu next to your avatar on the top navigation bar on the community site and select My Analytics.

Views per post

You will see two charts; the first shows all your posts, with the number of views per post. If you hover over the point at the peak of a post you can see its name in full and the number of views.

If you want to see only how certain posts have performed, simply click on the posts in the list to the right of the chart that you don’t wish to see on the chart. Their titles will turn grey and their data will disappear from the chart.

Use this data to see which of your posts are attracting the most attention, and try creating more of the same!

Profile views

This chart simply tells you how many profile views you have had over time. Use this data in conjunction with the data on posts to determine which posts are driving people to view your profile and learn more about your expertise.
