About this event

Speaker: Paul Gogarty – Systems and Telecoms Manager, Process Automation Department, ABB

The UK is facing an ongoing, persistent threat of cyber attack from other states, terrorists and criminals operating in cyberspace.

Cyberspace lies at the heart of modern society; it impacts our personal lives, our businesses and our essential services. Cyber security embraces both the public and the private sector and spans a broad range of issues related to national security, whether through terrorism, crime or industrial espionage.

With the increasing number of attacks such as Stuxnet, Havex and the more recent Black Energy Malware attack on the Western Ukrainian power company Prykarpattyaoblenergo, it’s clear systems which monitor and control critical infrastructure processes such as manufacturing, transportation, energy, oil and gas, and chemical are being targeted, and the attacks and becoming more and more successful. This event offers expert insight into protecting an industrial control system from a cyber-attack.
