Healthcare regulatory compliance is becoming more important: Here’s what you need to do about it

Cybercriminals today place more value on patient healthcare data than on credit card data. In 2014, 42.5% of the total number of breaches identified by the Identity Theft Resource Center occurred in the medical and healthcare sector. So why are healthcare organisations under attack? Because patient healthcare data has a longer shelf life than credit card numbers, which expire after a few years, and is easily usable for making fraudulent claims. Global IT security vendor IS Decisions has conducted research in the UK healthcare industry to find out how much attention organisations are paying to compliance and data security – and crucially identifies what they can do to improve compliance and keep patient information safe.
